Shells

Shells

We talk about people coming out of their shells
As if we’ve never picked a shell up:
Never admired its vibrant shades
Or remarked on its lustre

We talk about people coming out of their shells
As if the shell is the issue
As if it didn’t grow for a purpose
As if staying hidden and protected
Is not completely logical

All of which is to say:
I love what you’ve done with the place
Thank you for letting me in.
